I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mr. Floyd Staggs, Jr., or as many knew him, Babe. On my first trip to Wayne County, after I started working for SCTTA, Christine Chapman was eager to introduce me to Babe. I recall some scheduling issues, but we killed some time and ensured I had the opportunity to meet this legend.
Babe's excitement to take me through the Wayne County Museum was truly contagious. Quickly I realized that this man's love of music history was only matched by his love of Wayne County. Babe shared his ambitions with me about the Walk of Fame, and his ideas to grow the impact of the museum.
It was truly a pleasure to work with Babe when designing the Wayne County Walk of Fame digital tour, and branding. It was amazing to watch the ceremonies of the new inductees this past year and to see the pride that emanated from Babe and other community members as they honored the greats.
I wanted to thank Babe’s family for sharing this great man with us all. My thoughts and prayers are with Babe’s family and the entire Wayne County community.
