IMPACT TOOLS
See the Impact. Understand the Opportunity.
Tourism is more than visitors—it’s meals served, rooms booked, local purchases made, events attended, jobs supported, tax revenue generated, and dollars circulating through our communities. Experience Tennessee Impact Tools are designed to make that impact easier to understand. Whether you’re a tourism professional, business owner, community leader, elected official, or simply someone who wants to better understand the visitor economy, these interactive tools turn tourism data into practical, real-world numbers you can explore.
Our calculators use available tourism research, visitor profiles, economic-impact data, tax rates, industry benchmarks, and user-provided assumptions to estimate how visitor activity can affect a business, community, event, or region. Whenever possible, methodology is based on research from sources such as the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, Tourism Economics, state and local government data, and other recognized industry resources. Individual tools may also allow you to adjust assumptions to better reflect your own community, event, or business.
These tools are intended for educational, planning, and research purposes. Results are estimates, not guarantees, and actual economic or fiscal impacts may vary based on visitor behavior, market conditions, seasonality, pricing, tax structure, spending patterns, data limitations, and other factors. Unless specifically stated, calculated spending represents estimated direct economic activity and should not be interpreted as profit, tax revenue, or total economic impact. Each calculator includes additional methodology, assumptions, and source information where applicable.
Most importantly, these tools are about seeing the bigger picture. When we understand the numbers, we begin to understand just how much tourism matters—and how even small actions can create meaningful impact across our communities and our region.
